NICE Recommended Treatments:

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends the use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in treating the above common mental health difficulties including depression and anxiety disorders.

Duration:

Typically, individual CBT for depression and anxiety disorders consists of 12 – 20 sessions depending on an individuals’ presenting difficulties and severity with additional sessions for more complex difficulties. Frequency and duration of appointments will be adjusted to meet individuals’ needs and progress towards goals.
Sessions are usually between 50 – 60 minutes in duration and held remotely over video.

What to Expect:

Your first session will consist of a comprehensive assessment of your main difficulties, ways in which these are impacting you, any relevant history and an opportunity to identify your goals for therapy. This information gathered will then enable us to develop a personalised treatment plan to help you to work towards your identified goals.

Subsequent sessions will then be aimed at helping you to gain a better awareness of your cognitions (i.e. thoughts), behaviours, physical symptoms and emotions and what may be maintaining your difficulties and most importantly, how we can break out of unhelpful cycles.

Towards the end of your treatment plan, we will work at collaboratively developing a ‘staying well plan’ to enable you to confidently maintain your progress and handle potential triggers once therapy has come to an end.

Talks and Training Packages:

I am able to offer tailored treatment packages and training to corporate businesses and groups on a wide range of common mental health topics. Over the years I have delivered impactful training and talks on subjects such as stress management for young adults at university, and staff within councils, schools, faith leaders and NHS physical health teams. Other areas of trainings delivered included overcoming anxiety, building resilience, tackling depression and isolation, managing shyness and social anxiety (performance anxiety), identifying PTSD and various anxiety disorders, low self-esteem and how to facilitate effective conversations around mental health.
